Low water pressure was the symptom of an aging, decaying shower diverter/ valve. Upon exploring core replacement for this particular valve, it was apparent that the valve body and stem core had seized together with mineral deposits. This is common as water carries minerals that bond to the metals in plumbing and create lots of different issues over time. Left to time alone, copper and brass will eventually corrode and even decay.
